close call

Had a little mishap yesterday while working on the giant steel gate. Nothing major but got a nice deep cut on my finger when a piece of steel i was cutting kicked back at me and got me, right through the glove. it's fine, and was told at the Occidental Clinic that i could use a few stitches but there was no doctor there and would have to drive to Santa Rosa. I went for the self-cleaning and butterfly bandage and it's healing fine and well, even one day later.

It could have been a lot worse, and grateful that it wasn't.

Needless to say, i won't be playing the guitar for a few weeks
...but that's what Shirley is for right?

After the cut i was kinda freaking out as i didn't know how bad it was, and two amazing folks here helped me out tremendously. Michelle is an herbalist and incredible soul, and had me sit down and reminded me to breath and let it go, while Jason made me a grilled cheese sandwich. Somehow he knew that saurkraut is comfort food in my family, and included it in the sandwich. I felt so cared for, it is kind of unreal and humbling.

I was going to go to sleep at 10pm last night and instead drove back to Oakland to see Laura. Was so great to have her take a look at it and give her medical opinion, and just good to be back there in the lap-of-luxury. Heat at the turn of a knob, a nice hot bath, food and warmth and laughter and Breema!

here is a pic of gate #1 up on the work table, under the canopy under the trees. A pretty great place for a welding job, and i'll put on the thick gloves and get back to it tomorrow.

This might be the first time in my life that i can say that I Love My Job
wow, i can't believe i just said it.

thanks again for reading
